A soft breeze hits me through my light yellow hoodie. I shiver in the crisp January air. Snow is rare to see at this part of the year, but rain and mist will sit in the air, just waiting to downpour. The morning sun blazes through the Gray mist and warms the air into a spring day.
As i walk down the busy streets i catch a whiff of sea salt and traditional foods. I walk down a side street and i’m suddenly shaded by colourful hanging umbrellas.
I sit under the shade of the umbrellas and close my eyes. The rumble of the metros gliding along their tracks, soothes me into a late afternoon nap.
I wake from my slumber with my cheek resting on the cool brick wall behind me. I look up, over the umbrellas and noticed that the sky has a pinkish glow of twilight.
I make my way towards the beach, not even looking which way is which, because i have memorized the whole way. I pass tarrazas, jewellery shops and fruit stalls along the way.
I reach the beach, pull my leather strap sandals off my feet and walk down by the water. The coarse sand sticks in between my toes and under my nails. I walk into the water until it reaches my knees. The warm salt water circles around my legs as i walk.
I stop at my favourite restaurant and order a sangria and Pa amb tomaquet.
I sit and watch the sky go black as i eat my meal and sip my sweet, fruit drink. I leave a tip of two euros and slowly make my way towards home.
Love Ella
